In the ten years that we have been running this web site and organised tours through Yunnan a lot of things have changed. We started out by offering tours in Yunnan that were of the beaten track and ten years ago a lot of Yunnan was of the beaten track.

But things have changed and tourism has taken an enormous grows in China and Yunnan. Nowadays there hardly is a spot anylonger that is not over run by tourist. Tourism is a sizable part of the money that is made in Yunnan and there have been enormous investments in tourism infrastructure.

For exsample a trip to Lugu lake, ten years ago, took several days to get there. Now there is an airport.

The tiny hamlet of Bamei ten years ago had two guesthouses now there are thirty. It took two days to get there. Now there is a high-speed trains station nearby

For that reason we no longer offer general tours in Yunnan but focus only on that in what we are a specialist, that is tours focussing on the Burma Road and a few places in Western Yunnan.

What changed as well in the last three years is that international tourism came to a standstill during the closusure of China due to Covid-19 restrictions. Basically no international visiter could visit Yunnan from Spring Festival 2020 till Spring Festival 2023.

This ment that for the last three years we have not done any tours with international visiters and scaled down our operations enormously.

Now China and Yunnan are open again and we are able to host international visiters again. But we like to keep it small and only offer tours to those who are interested in the old Burma Road and the area around it.

We dont offer ready made tour packages but design tours together with you.

During China's national holidays, that is Spring Festival, the May day holiday and National day things get crazy. The province is over run with Chinese tourist and accomodation is not available unless booked wel in advance and at triple the price. Therefor we do not organise any tours during these three Chinees holidays.
